Cooling takes place in a hygienic water tank, on the outer side of which a Peltier element is installed. This is a ceramic plate containing multiple PN junctions. When supplied with electric current, one side of the Peltier element becomes cold while the other side heats up. The cooling side is positioned against the hygienic water tank containing the water. The heated side of the plate must be cooled using a heat sink and fan.
To ensure proper air circulation and efficient cooling, dispensers with an electronic cooling system must be placed at least 10 cm away from walls or other objects behind the unit. The Peltier element cools the water to a temperature between 10°C and 12°C, although ambient temperature has a significant impact on performance. The cooling capacity is approximately 700 ml per hour.
