Illy

Illy is an Italian family-owned company from Trieste, founded in 1933 by Francesco Illy with the dream of offering the world the best coffee. Today Illy makes a single, unique 100% Arabica blend, made up of nine different Arabica types from South and Central America, Africa and India.

The brand's history is tied to espresso innovation: in 1935 Francesco Illy created the “illetta”, the blueprint for modern espresso machines, and his pressurised packaging method still preserves the freshness of coffee during transport and storage. In 1974 the company introduced E.S.E., the first pre-measured espresso pods.

Illy is available as whole beans, in iPerEspresso capsules and in E.S.E. pods, in three roast levels – Classico, Intenso and Forte – as well as decaffeinated, while the Arabica Selection range presents the taste of individual origins one by one. In 2021 Illy became the first Italian coffee company to obtain B Corp certification.
